Our Story

It all started when…

For Brent Phillips, the desire to serve and make a difference was woven into his DNA. His great-grandfather was a missionary to South Africa, dedicating his life to translating the Bible into native languages, ensuring that the Word of God reached those who had never heard it before. His grandfather followed in those footsteps, launching an outreach program for impoverished children during apartheid, providing food, education, and hope in a time of deep division.

Growing up in the shadow of such bold faith and service, Brent longed to find his own way to create change in the world. But how? The need was great, and the options were endless.

While working full-time in software development, Brent tried everything—he wrote books, planted churches, led mission trips, and organized food drives. Each effort made an impact, but something was missing—he felt called to something bigger, something that would leave a lasting impact on a global scale.

Then, the answer came in an unexpected way.

A Simple Idea That Sparked a Movement

Brent’s brother had an idea for a business—a platform to help people connect and solve complex medical issues. Brent built the technology, and in doing so, he realized the power of connection, secure communication, and digital innovation. That experience planted a seed—one that would soon grow beyond anything he could have imagined.

From Data Protection to Rescuing Lives

During this time, Brent became increasingly aware of a serious issue facing missionariesdata breaches and online vulnerabilities were putting their lives at risk. Sensitive information was being leaked, and in some cases, missionaries were being targeted because of it. Brent knew he had the skills to fix this problem. So, he did.

He built Luep—a secure communication and collaboration platform designed to keep missionaries safe in hostile regions. But God had bigger plans.

In 2021, when the U.S. withdrew from Afghanistan, thousands of people—missionaries, aid workers, and Afghan allies—were left stranded, their lives in immediate danger. As panic spread and governments scrambled, Brent and his team saw an opportunity:

💡 Could Luep be used to coordinate rescues?

The answer was yes—and it worked beyond imagination.

Using Luep, Brent and his team helped rescue over 800 people from Afghanistan, organizing safe routes, connecting evacuees with those who could help, and providing real-time secure communication. What started as a tool for missionaries had suddenly become a life-saving platform for global crises.

Expanding the Vision: Never Just Exist Ministries Is Born

Seeing the incredible impact of Luep, Brent knew this was just the beginning. There were so many people in need, and so many organizations struggling to help them because they lacked the right tools.

From that moment on, Never Just Exist Ministries was born—not as just another nonprofit, but as a movement dedicated to:

Empowering frontline organizations with cutting-edge technology.
Providing a safe, secure way for communities in crisis to connect.
Rescuing and restoring those trapped in human trafficking, poverty, and displacement.
Protecting missionaries and spreading the Gospel in hard-to-reach places.

Today, Luep and NJE have been used to rescue thousands from trafficking, evacuate hundreds from war zones, coordinate massive community projects, and support missionaries across the globe.

But this is only the beginning.

Our Mission Is Simple: Never Just Exist—Change the World

From a South African missionary’s Bible translation to a digital rescue tool saving lives, the heart of NJE remains the same:

💡 To serve. To protect. To empower. To make a difference.

We are here to help those who help others—because when we stand together, we never just exist…

We change the world.
